October 2024 LMS Transition Update

Modified on Thu, Oct 31 at 11:09 AM

The message below was sent on October 30, 2024, to all Modern States learners who have had accounts on our legacy platform.  It provides an overview of our Learning Management System transition and implications for learners. We will send updated messages as we move towards the transition.

Dear Modern States Community,

As we reach the later stages of our transition to our new learning platform (at learn.modernstates.org), I want to remind you of several important dates you should be aware of if you are continuing to use our legacy platform (at courses.modernstates.org).

  • Starting November 1: New courses may only be started on our new platform at learn.modernstates.org. On our legacy platform, you may continue working on courses you have already enrolled in. If there are courses you may want to take on our legacy platform, you MUST enroll before November 1.
  • By December 31, 2024: All courses on the legacy platform must be complete and related voucher requests must be submitted. Starting on January 1, you will not be able to access your account on our legacy platform, which includes the information necessary to request a CLEP voucher based on your progress there. We strongly encourage you to plan for completion well before the end of the year, to provide some breathing room.

Please keep in mind that progress will not transfer from one platform to another, so if you have any concern about your ability to complete courses by the end of this calendar year, I strongly encourage you to start using the new platform as soon as possible. Any learner can create an account on our new platform at any time at register.modernstates.org.

As we have shared previously, the essential parts of Modern States remain the same: our courses remain free, we continue to offer CLEP vouchers to learners who complete our courses, and we remain focused on making college accessible and affordable to all learners.

Thank you for being a part of the Modern States community, and I hope to see you on our new platform!

Best,

Jefferson Pestronk
Executive Director
Modern States Education Alliance
