Why Doesn’t My Course Include an Answer Key for Textbook Exercises?

Modified on Mon, Jun 16 at 12:05 PM

Modern States uses a variety of open-source, peer-reviewed textbooks—such as those from OpenStax, Lumen Learning, and others—to support our free CLEP prep courses. These textbooks are designed for use in both independent study and college classrooms, which means they often do not include publicly available answer keys for exercises and practice questions.

This approach helps preserve academic integrity for institutions that use these materials in graded assignments or exams.

If you’re looking for additional support as you work through textbook exercises, we recommend the following:

  • Complete the practice quizzes in each Modern States module

  • Review course videos and other learning tools provided

  • Visit the College Board CLEP site for sample questions and official guides

  • Discuss challenging material with a tutor, peer, or educator
