Modern States uses a number of terms that are helpful for learners and educators to be familiar with. Below is a working list of key terms:
CLEP - The College Level Examination Program, created by the College Board and including 30+ exams that lead to credit at nearly 3000 colleges and universities.
Voucher - The ticket used to sign up for a CLEP exam, which normally costs $95/exam. Modern States provides vouchers at no cost to learners who complete our courses.
Platform - The online learning system/interface. Modern States is transitioning to D2L Brightspace.
Auditor - Someone like a teacher, parent or mentor who is able to view a learner’s progress and course work.
Legacy platform - The online learning system/interface that Modern States will be sunsetting in 2024. Modern States’ legacy platform is OpenEdX.
Aggregate data - Combined/summarized information about groups of users, that does not allow identification of an individual learner’s data.
CFU (Checks for Understanding) - The quizzes or questions that test a learner’s understanding of a module's content.
