How to configure two factor authentication in your Modern States account

Modified on Fri, Apr 10 at 2:00 PM

To configure two factor authentication on your account (required for auditors, optional for learners):

Log in and click on your name in the top right corner of the window and then select to Account Settings.

From the Account Settings page, click Enable Two Factor Authentication and Save and Close.

Before you continue: You'll need an authenticator app

Whether two factor authentication is required for your role or you're setting it up by choice, you'll need an authenticator app installed before completing the steps below.

We recommend one of the following:

  • Google Authenticator — A simple, widely used app available for iOS and Android.
  • Microsoft Authenticator — A full-featured option from Microsoft, available for iOS and Android.
  • Authy — A multi-device option available for iOS and Android.

A window will pop-up with a QR code and a personal code (if you are unable to scan the QR code).

IMPORTANT: You must add the QR code or secret code to your authenticator app so that it begins generating codes. Once codes are being generated, you will enter a code in the code box (seen in the screenshot above) and then click Check code. This step is what activates your two factor authentication.
