How are Voucher Requests reviewed?

Modified on Wed, Apr 16 at 9:02 AM

When you request a CLEP voucher through Modern States, our automated system (AVS – Automated Voucher System) reviews your request using a set of predefined eligibility rules. These rules ensure that vouchers are distributed fairly and efficiently to learners who meet our program requirements.

System Criteria: Approval & Rejection Rules

Your request will be automatically approved if:

  • You have not previously received a voucher for this CLEP exam

        OR

  • You received a voucher but did not pass the CLEP exam (your College Board score was below 50)

Your request will be automatically rejected if any of the following apply:

  • You are banned or flagged in our system (e.g., for policy violations)
  • You have already taken the same CLEP exam twice
  • You currently have five or more open, unused vouchers across any subjects
  • You already have an active voucher for this exam that hasn’t been used or expired

If your request is rejected, you will receive an email explaining the reason, you can appeal the decision if you believe it was made in error by responding to the email.

What If My Case Doesn’t Fit the Rules Exactly?

Some requests may need additional time.  Manual review requests are typically resolved within 2 business days.
