How to Register for Your CLEP Exam

Use the steps below to complete your CLEP exam registration on the College Board website. Have your voucher code ready before you begin.

Go to clep.collegeboard.org and sign in or create an account.
Select CLEP from the top left dropdown menu.
Select Register for an Exam.
Select your exam topic.
Select Register.
Select Start a new CLEP registration.
Complete your personal information and select Get Started.
Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
When asked "Are you using a voucher to register for this exam?" — select Yes.
Enter your voucher code.
Select your CLEP exam.
Select a testing location.
Continue to complete your registration. Your order total will show $0.00 at checkout.

Next Step: Schedule Your Test Center Appointment

Use the CLEP test center search to find a location near you. Once you identify a test center, call them directly to schedule your exam date and time. The test center fee can be paid over the phone when you schedule.

Remote Proctoring Option

You may use your Modern States CLEP voucher to test with remote proctoring. Be aware that many learners have reported issues with this option due to strict technical requirements — including identity verification, a room scan, a second smartphone as a camera, and software installation steps that must be completed before exam day.
